National Alliance on Mental Illness training registration due Thursday

Walla Walla Union-Bulletin - 1/9/2018

Jan. 08--The Jan. 12 deadline to apply for a National Alliance on Mental Illness-sponsored training is rapidly approaching. Training will take place Jan. 26-28 in Kirkland, Wash.

Participants will learn the skills needed to conduct a rigorous, effective six- or 12-week NAMI Family-to-Family course in local communities. The signature education program is for families, partners and friends of individuals with serious mental illness.

To be considered for the class, applicants must be at least 18 years of age, be or become a NAMI member in good standing, and be the family member and/or caregiver of a person living with mental illness. Find the application form at ubne.ws/2CwImMl.

Attending the training is by preregistration only, and class size is limited to 14 spots. If there are more applications than spots for the class, a waiting list will be created.

To reserve a space, a completed application and a $50 refundable registration deposit from the local affiliate is required.

For more details or to cancel after being accepted, notify Dorina Hyseni at the state office at 206-783-4288 or email her at dorina@namiwa.org.

Canceled spots are filled with applications from the waiting list for the class, not by sending another affiliate member.

The state NAMI office is at 7500 Greenwood Ave. N., Seattle, WA 98103.

Etcetera appears in daily and Sunday editions. Annie Charnley Eveland can be reached at annieeveland@wwub.com or afternoons at 526-8313.
