Grasspave2 is a ground retention grid designed for use on grass to allow wheelchairs and scooters--or motor vehicles up to 80,000 pounds--to traverse lawns and other grassy areas without damaging the turf or restricting wheel motion. The grid consists of thin-walled, independent plastic rings connected by an interlocking geogrid structure at their bottom. The rings are rigid while the grid remains flexible to allow the structure to match uneven terrain. The rings act to transfer loads from the top surface to the grid structure and engineered base course material below and prevent compaction of the upper root zone of the grass. Rings are spaced so that several are used to support a standard tire at any time, or individually support small loads like shoes. Maximum porosity of this paving medium allows low runoff, free air and water movement, and 100 percent grass coverage. The surface net is made of recycled post-consumer plastics. It can be used in residential or institutional applications, or for major public events. INSTALLATION: According to the manufacturer, one person can install Grasspave2 units at a rate of nearly 100 square meters per hour, plus allowances for base course preparation and grass installation - by seeding, sod, or sprigging. Units snap together. An installation guide comes with the units. DIMENSIONS: Each unit is 20 x 20 x 1 inch. WEIGHT: 18 ounces per unit. COLOR: Black is standard; custom colors available.
