The Evoluent VerticalMouse 3 Wireless, model VM3W-R, is an ergonomic mouse designed for use by individuals with carpal tunnel syndrome or repetitive strain injury. This 2.4 gigaHertz (GHz) wireless mouse has a vertical shape that allows the user to hold it with a handshake grip that eliminates forearm twisting and promotes a neutral wrist and forearm posture. The mouse has an optical sensor with 5 buttons requiring light force for clicking, but firm enough to prevent accidental actuation. When a driver is instaled, the buttons are each programmable with different functions in different applications. When the driver is not installed, the default functions in Windows are: Top button, left click; wheel button, forward; middle button, middle click (for example, pan and rotate in CAD programs); bottom button, right click; thumb button, back. The compact USB receiver is slim enough to avoid blocking adjacent ports. A small lip on the bottom edge prevents the little finger from rubbing the desk. COMPATIBILITY: For use on IBM and compatible personal computers (PCs), Macintosh, or Linux- or Unix-based computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: A USB port is required for all computers. For PCs Windows XP Pro, XP Home, Vista 32-bit, and Windows 7 operating systems support basic functionality of all 5 buttons. (The included driver for programming buttons is not compatible with Windows 7 so button functions are fixed in Win 7). For Mac, OS X or higher supports two buttons and a scroll wheel. For Linux, left and right click are supported by most versions. POWER: Uses 2 double-A alkaline batteries. DIMENSIONS (HxLxW): 3.03 x 4.45 x 3.15 inches. WEIGHT: 6.7 ounces with batteries.
