WayFinder is an audible mobility and personal location tracking program, cognitive aid, prompter, and voice output navigation system designed for use by individuals with cognitive and memory disabilities or who are blind or have low vision. This software is for a personal digital assistant (PDA) (not included) and uses GPS (global positioning satellite)–based personalized audio and visual cues to support independent travel via bus systems and on foot. WayFinder enables the user to create specific travel routes and activate them from the GPS location. The user receives customized audio and visual instructions to prompt him or her through route navigation. When installed on a Smartphone with active service, the program also allows remote caregivers to send a text message to WayFinder and an automatic text message is sent back with a map link showing the current location of the user. WayFinder can be used as a stand-alone application or added to the Community Integration Suite or Pocket Endeavor Suite (see separate entries). COMPATIBILITY: The software is for use on a PDA or smartphone that uses the Windows Mobile operating system and is GPS-enabled (manufacturer recommends the HTC Touch2 Pocket PC Phone). SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Windows Mobile 5 or 6; 300 megaHertz (MHz) ARM-based CPU; 240 x 320 pixel (QVGA) display; 64 megabytes (MB) or memory (SDRAM); 4 gigabytes (GB) removable storage card; 128 MB internal storage memory (flash ROM); built-in microphone and speakers.
