PointScribe is a writing skills training program designed for use by individuals with learning, upper extremity or fine motor disabilities. This software enables children to trace letters, numbers and shapes on a touch screen using a stylus to learn basic handwriting skills. PointScribe has a preloaded library of block upper case and lower case letters, numbers and shapes, and it is possible to create new shapes to add to the library. It incorporates interactive animation, colors, music and other sounds to engage and provide feedback to the user. The child is provided with audio and visual prompts restart a shape when that shape is formed improperly. A teacher or parent can build customized lessons and tests and create custom combinations of colors, themes and music. The PointScribe Professional version allows for multiple users to use the software on the same computer, and it features a tracking and data management system that analyzes and reports data for single or multiple students. The Home version does not support multiple students and lacks the data management and reporting features. PointScribe requires touch screen technology, such as a tablet PC or a touch screen monitor, which is not included with the software. COMPATIBILITY: For use with IBM and compatible computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Windows XP, Vista or 7 operating system; 2 gigabytes (GB) random access memory (RAM); 350 megabytes (MB) of hard disk space.
