Math Window Basic Math is a math training aid designed for use by students who are blind or have low vision. This math teaching aid consists of a magnetic board and tiles that allow students with visual disabilities to build and solve math problems, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division problems. Numerals can be configured as whole numbers, decimals, or fractions. The tiles are available with numerals and symbols in standard and large print and in Nemeth Code, a braille math code. Math problems can be configured in the same linear or vertical forms that sighted students are taught, so blind students can participate and understand math concepts along with their sighted peers. Math problems are constructed by sliding the appropriate tiles from the perimeter storage area to the central work area. The problem-solving process is identical to that used by sighted students, so blind students can learn and participate in the mainstream classroom. Math Window Basic includes one framed magnetic board, 156 numerals and mathematical symbols, six separation lines, a clear plastic storage case for magnetic tiles, and a canvas carrying case with handles. OPTIONS: Algebra Add-On Kit with 317 additional magnetic tiles (237 for large print only), including numerals, letters, functions, signs, and symbols, and a clear plastic storage case. DIMENSIONS (HxW): Working area of the magnetic board is 11 x 14 inches for standard print and braille tiles; 20 x 14 inches for large print tiles. Standard print and braille tiles are 0.5 x 0.5 inches; large print tiles are 1 x 1 inches.
