The Aladdin Ambassador is a voice output reading machine designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. This system uses optical character recognition (OCR) technology to convert text from books, magazines, and other printed materials to high-quality speech using DECtalk speech synthesis software. This system has a 1.08 gigabyte hard drive with the capacity to hold 60,000 pages of text. A built-in tape recorder jack allows a tape recorder to be attached to make recordings. Features are operated using three controls (on/off switch, a voice speed knob, and a volume control knob) and a keypad. This machine can be used with headphones and it continues to scan while the reader listens.The Ambassador Pro provides expanded features through a 19-key keypad or a computer keyboard.
