Veterans deserve shuttle service

The Enterprise - 2/1/2017

I recently inquired about the shuttle service at the Veterans Administration clinic at Manet Health Center in North Quincy. I was told that it did not exist, and that the signs were just for show.

Several months back I suggested that my elected officials - federal, state and local - see if the abandoned Quincy Medical Center could become a satellite 60-bed VA hospital with outpatient clinics. The answer I got back from all my elected officials is that it is all about money. I find it sad that veterans from Braintree, Milton, Weymouth, Quincy and Randolph have to commute to Brockton, Jamaica Plain or West Roxbury for hospitalization.

I'm sure when I inquire about why no shuttle service, I'm going to be given the same answer: no money. Yet our government has no problem wasting millions in the same countries we send our soldiers, men and women, to be wounded or maimed. My only response to all my elected officials is: Shame on you.
