Things to do - Martin Co. veterans council plans golf tourney
Stuart News - 5/23/2018
PALM CITY – On Saturday, June 9, the Veterans Council of Martin County will host its first annual golf tournament at Palm Cove Golf & Yacht Club, 2362 SW Carriage Hill Terrace.
The Veterans Council of Martin County was established to prevent veterans or family members and their dependents from becoming homeless by providing financial assistance and providing free transportation to elderly, disabled and needy veterans to the Veterans Administration Hospital in West Palm Beach.
If not for the Veterans Council, these veterans would not be able to visit the Veterans Administration Hospital for their appointments.
The Council also sponsors the annual Memorial Day and Veterans Day parades in Stuart.
All members serve on a voluntary basis so 100 percent of the proceeds received by the organization go to helping Martin County veterans.
A four-person scramble shotgun starts at 8:30 a.m. Fees are $90 per player or $360 for a team, and include 18 holes of golf with cart, continental breakfast, lunch, prizes and gratuities.
Business can sponsor a tee or green for $100. To get sign up forms, visit www.vetcouncilmc.org or www.facebook.com/VeteransCouncilMartinCounty/
"We are very pleased to announce our first annual Golf Tournament to help raise funds for our local veterans in need," Veterans Council of Martin County Chair John Haddox said. "Please join us in supporting our nation's veterans and members of the military for their service and sacrifice."
