Broward County nonprofit group offers free career readiness program for veterans and military families

Aug. 30--A free program will be offered monthly through December at the Northwest Regional Library, 3151 N University Drive, Coral Springs, FL 33065, for military veterans and families by Coconut Creek-based nonprofit, The Welcome Home Group.

Classes will be Sept. 4, Oct. 2, Nov. 6 and Dec. 4 on the second floor of the library in the computer center and "offers dedicated training to equip veterans and their families with the resources and knowledge to launch a successful job search," according to a news release.

According to Florida Vets, there are about 20 million veterans living in the United States, with over 1.5 million of them in Florida. Broward County has among the highest population of veterans in the state, and its Veterans Services department "serves more than 700 individuals monthly, files more than 1,927 claims annually and in one year, assisted applicants in receiving more than $9,932,680 in benefits," according to the county.
