Opus 2 Orchestra will perform Veterans Day concert in Trafford

Oct. 31--Students from all over the east suburbs and greater Westmoreland County will perform a Veterans Day concert with the Opus 2 Orchestra.

The Nov. 11 concert will be at 7 p.m. at Christian Life Church, 900 Seventh Street in Trafford. It is the first free concert of the group's 2018-19 season and will feature songs in a variety of genres, including Karl Jenkins' "Palladio" and an "Armed Forces Medley" arranged by Bob Delfausse as a salute to veterans.

Under the direction of the Plum School District'sMegan Martz, who is also an Opus alumna, the orchestra provides opportunities for young musicians beyond those they receive at school or private lessons.

A voluntary donation at the concert's end will go toward the orchestra's expenses.

--Franklin Regional: Ella Hadden, Matthew Ip, Phillip Olszewski

--Penn-Trafford: Jonathan Judy

--Monessen: Gracie Zizis

--Norwin: Billie Balaban, Jacob Capets, Amanda Hanley, Austin Hewitt, Nicholas Hines

--Gateway: Blaine Austin, Allison Klinsky, Madelynn Smith, Blake Vowler

--Serra Catholic: Abigail Bernick

--Trinity Christian School: Kendall White

--Homeschool: Darius Blasko, Rachel Schweitzer
