Casa de la Vida is a 24-hour residential facility that assists young men and women between the ages of 18-24 in re-entering the community after psychiatric hospitalization. They help adults cope with mental illness and provide a supportive environment that empowers and prepares our clients for independent living. Casa de la Vida is a 13-bed house located in central Oakland, providing transitional housing for young adults with severe and persistent mental illness. They provide 24 hour staffing, a structured day program, pre-crisis strategy counselling, crisis intervention, recreational and cultural activities, individual, group and family counselling, peer support groups and client advocacy.
  • Hours24 hours; Admissions staff available Mon-Fri 9am-5pm
  • Area(s) Served:Alameda County
  • Specific Populations Served:Ages 18-24 with severe mental illness (schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, PTSD, major depression, etc.)
  • Fees:$825/month, usually from SSI. If a resident does not have SSI, a behavioral health care professional can help them apply for GA and the Everyone Home Fund.
  • Application Process:Intake Questionnaire & Therapist Referral forms; Client Application; TB, Physical & Ambulatory; Prescreen Interview with Casa Admissions staff
  • Eligibility Requirements:No recent suicide attempt, violence, or substance addiction
