The ReadyVote AutoKart is an accessible cart for a voting machine designed for use by individuals with lower extremity or mobility disabilities or spinal cord injury. This cart holds the AutoMark switch accessible electronic voting machine (see separate record) on a pull-out shelf, allowing full wheelchair access. While the AutoMark is held securely on one end of the cart, the other end holds an optical scanner. Because the optical scanner and AutoMark are located at opposite ends, each may be used privately and independently. This mobile unit also provides space for a ballot box, six suitcase-style voting booths, and a container for precinct supplies and forms. All functions of the devices are fully accessible, including computer media, electrical cords and removal of ballots. The unit can be used for transport and storage without lifting or removing the devices. A nylon cover provides storage and protection for the unit, and it can be locked for additional security. The cover also contains a clear pocket for precinct identification or other necessary information. The unit is adaptable to a variety of voting systems, including DRE (direct recording electronic) systems.
