The ACO Detectable Warning Device is a detectable warning surface designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. The polymer concrete surface is made from polyester resins reinforced with mineral aggregates and fillers, with an enhanced micro-texture design located on and between truncated domes for increased slip resistance and sound-on-cane detectability. The surface provides up to four times the compressive strength of cement concrete, with minimal water absorption to prevents freeze-thaw breakdown. The polymer concrete material is resistant to road salts and other common road pollutants. Integral colors are UV stable and provide required color contrast to surrounding walking surfaces. Two styles are available. VersaTile is a cast-in-place tile that is installed by tamping into wet finished concrete and fixed in position with anchors that are designed to allow the tiles to be replaced. Heritage Tile is a brick-pattern tile that has the classic look of fired bricks without differential settlement or weed growth. Typical applications include sidewalks, curb ramps, platform edges, railway stations, and retail locations and plazas. DIMENSIONS (LxW): Sections are 24 x 12 or 24 x 24 inches. Truncated domes are 0.9 inches in diameter and 0.2 inches high. COLOR: Gray, black, brick red, or yellow.
