DO IT YOURSELF ENTRY --- PURPOSE: To enable individuals with arthritis or grasping disabilities to play cards. Included in a chapter entitled "Living Room & Leisure Activities," this article provides detailed instructions with illustrations for making a set of four playing card holders. The base is formed of 1 x 2 inch lumber and two pieces of molding are glued to the top with a slot in between to hold the cards. MATERIALS: Four foot long piece of 1 x 2 inch lumber, an eight foot long piece of 0.75-inch quarter-round molding, and white glue. TOOLS: Saw and sandpaper. SKILLS REQUIRED: Basic carpentry.
