The Functional Electrical Stimulation Motorized Ergometer is a motorized FES cycle designed for use by individuals with spinal cord injury. This system is used from a wheelchair, with no transfer required. The user's feet are secured in the pedals with his/her legs supported by the leg guides. Surface electrodes placed on the skin over leg muscle groups are connected by a cable to the system's controller. A computer with a color, touch-sensitive screen controls the stimulation patterns sent to the legs, producing a smooth pedaling motion. The cycle comes with pre-set therapy settings to take the user through complete sessions. These settings can be tailored to suit individual needs by a clinician. A unilateral stimulation mode configures the RT300 to operate seamlessly when only one side of the body requires electrical stimulation. This feature includes a unilateral stimulation cable which simplifies electrode connection. The unit also offers Dynamic Motor Support, where the 200-watt motor is fully integrated with electrical stimulation (maximum capacity 140mA stimulator). The system's software dynamically controls the motor to maximize user performance and outcomes. The motor speed, resistance and torque (how hard the motor turns the crank) are all automatically responsive to user performance and phase of therapy--whether in the warm-up, active, or cool-down phase. The system's Internet connectivity enables the user and the therapist to monitor progress on the Web and the RT300-S user forum lets individuals chat with other riders. The system includes 12 months of electrodes and one training session with the individual's physical therapist. SIZES: Model RT300-SL is an adult cycle and model RT300-SLP is a children's cycle for children ages four through 12. OPTIONS: Pulse oximeter. DIMENSIONS (LxWxH): 21.3 x 18.1 x 18.1 inches. The unit requires approximately 2 x 3 sqare feet of floor space. WEIGHT: 80 pounds.
