The Response Ability Personal Emergency Response System (PERS) is an emergency alert system with monitoring servce designed for use by seniors or individuals with disabilities who are at risk for medical emergencies. This system brings help in any crisis situation, such as a fall, burn, or other household accident, even if the user cannot get to a telephone. In such a situation, the user presses the help button on a waterproof pendant transmitter. The pendant then signals a base unit connected to an existing telephone line, which immediately alerts a 24 hour a day monitoring center. The user's personal information is automatically retreived from a computer. Skilled and caring professionals speak to the user through the base unit, and contact emergency services, police, or fire services as needed.
