The Surfboard Voice Activated Remote is a television remote control designed for use by individuals with vision, fine motor, or mobility disabilities, arthritis, or spinal cord injury. This remote controls the television, VCR, DVD, cable, and satellite dish with the voice commands. The Help button talks the user through the automated setup for TV, cable, or satellite equipment. Although it requires more programming, it can also be used with a VCR, DVD player, or a Tivo. If the brand in use is not in the library of codes, the Surfboard can learn the commands from the existing remote control. This remote is designed to listen for a specific keyword (factory set to "Surfboard") and then to the user's command. The factory set listen time is 10 minutes, but it can be extended to one hour, four hours, or forever. This remote comes with 5 pre-programmed (speaker independent) commands: Power, channel up, channel down, previous, and favorite. These commands can be replaced with up to 12 user-selected commands. The alternate commands can be used to access to other features and functions used regularly. A customized keyword for waking up the remote can also be selected. POWER: Uses an electrical outlet via a 6-foot regulated 6-volt power adapter or four triple-A rechargeable batteries (not included). The power adapter serves as a battery charger. WARRANTY: 90-day manufacturer's warranty.
