GRIT Freedom Chair

The GRIT Freedom Chair is an all-terrain wheelchair designed for individuals with mobility or lower extremity disabilities. Made of a rugged, lightweight steel frame, the GRIT Freedom Chair features foot straps and a removable seatback, wheels, and an adjustable footrest. It can be disassembled in less than a minute and fit into the trunk of a small car. The GRIT Freedom Chair also features a patented lever drive, which does not require a lot of force to push, therefore reducing shoulder strain. With a push on the lever drive, the user can cruise on sidewalks and roads; climb over hills; and roll through grass, dirt, and sand. And with a backwards pull, he or she can apply the brakes. The rear wheels, which are 26-inch mountain bike tires, provide sufficient traction to drive over bumpy terrain. The solid rubber front wheel absorbs shocks, distributes the user’s weight, and rolls over obstacles, and the three-wheeled footprint provides the wheelchair with extra stability.
