The Shoe Tying Tips and Tools for Kids is a DIY made out of an egg carton and shoelaces. It can be used to help children learn and practice how to tie shoes while working on fine and gross motor skills. Creating this product is also a proprioceptive activity.

Technical Specifications:

Step One: Gather Materials: one cardboard egg carton and a set of shoe laces, disinfectant spray, golf tees, hammer.

Step Two: Spray the egg carton with disinfectant spray to eliminate germs (an optional step).

Step Three: Make holes in the egg carton for the shoelaces, as pictured, poking the holes with a golf tee and hammer (a proprioceptive activity).

Step Three: Grab the set of shoe laces and begin lacing them through the egg carton. Threading the holes is great fine motor practice for children and encourages bilateral hand coordination.

Step Four: With the created product, begin to practice tying shoes by tying bows (and double knotting).
