Nest Protect (Wired 120V) Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm

Nest Protect (Wired 120V) is a smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarm. It will alert users with verbal cues and lights whenever it detects smoke or CO in the house, allowing individuals who are blind or have low vision or are deaf or hard of hearing to be alerted to potential dangers. The unit offers voice alarms with custom location, so it will tell the user what it is detecting and which room it is detecting smoke or CO from. And depending on the severity of the situation, the unit will glow either yellow or red. For example, if Nest Protect senses a little smoke coming from the kitchen, it will glow yellow and say, “Heads-up. There’s smoke in the kitchen.” If it senses a real emergency, it will glow red and say, “Emergency. There’s carbon monoxide in the living room. Move to fresh air.” Nest Protect also does a self-check every night to make sure that its sensors, batteries, and Wi-Fi connection are working properly. If they are, the unit will glow green, and if there is a problem, Nest Protect will glow yellow. To learn what the problem is, the user can either press the Nest button to hear a verbal message or look it up on the free Nest app. All verbal messages can be viewed on the Nest app, including heads-up alerts and emergency alarms. And in case of an emergency, a “What To Do” feature will pop up on the user’s smartphone, explaining how he or she can evacuate the house safely. Users can also silence the alarm from the app. Nest Protect (Wired 120V) comes with 3 long-life backup batteries (Energizer® Ultimate Lithium “L91” AA), an AC 120V connector, 3 wire nuts, a back plate, 4 screws, and an User’s Guide and Welcome Guide.
