Fine Motor Color Matching Flowers is an activity designed for young children to build their fine motor skills and make activities such as writing, cutting and lacing easier. This Fine Motor Color Matching Flowers activity is easy to make.

Technical Specifications:

Step One: Gather materials.

  • Felt (white, dark pink, light pink, red, orange and yellow)
  • Corresponding colored buttons
  • Green pipe cleaners
  • Flower template (free hand, or find one online to print and trace)

Step Two: The Occupational Therapist uses the template to cut the felt flowers. They make a slit in the middle of the flowers by bending them in the middle and cutting a tiny slit, big enough for the buttons to easily glide in.

Step Three: Attach the buttons to the pipe cleaners.

Step Four: Ask the child to match the color button to the flower and attach it.

Step Five: Bind it together like a bouquet.

Step Six: Use as a gift or for a pretend play flower shop.
