Established in 2000 by parent/inventor Walter Hagedorn, Sensation Products Ltd originally focused primarily on the modification of battery operated toys; so they may be played with remotely by means of an external “Capability Switch”. Custom switches were developed to be used by the clients in a variety of ways based on the person’s physical/mental abilities. This work has enabled many children with a vast array of special needs to experience independent play for the first time in their lives.

Over the past fifteen years, the need for our “Vibro-Tactile” type products has continued to increase dramatically. Each year, the percentage of our children diagnosed with a sensory needs disorder has continued to grow.  At Sensation Products, we believe that one contributing factor (of the many) of this epidemic is how our modern children now interact with the world around them in the form of play.

What is now accepted as “play” has transformed greatly! The “Toys of Yesterday” that often required the use of fine/gross motor skills are now being replaced with their cyber equivalents. Long gone are the days of brick and mortar toy stores. These are the unfortunate results of advancements in computer gaming technology. As this modern day dynamic continues to develop, the children of societies across the globe have adapted with it. It seems almost all of the sensory stimulation that was once created naturally by physical play is now often completely replaced by intense mental stimulation via the cyber world.  As a result of this dramatic shift, there can be sensory deficiencies, as well as chemical/hormonal imbalances, that develop in the body/mind.

No doubt, the increase of ASD diagnoses is also the result of increased education/awareness of the dedicated parents, teachers and caregivers who are working and living with children that have extra sensory needs.  As a result, Vibro-Tactile types of therapies have now been recognized and applied as an effective treatment to help calm the mind/body. With proper sensory stimulation and balance, the individual can more easily absorb information in their learning environment and feel more physically calm. These are the results of the chemical responses the brain triggers due to the vibration pressures being applied. Some of our unique products have a larger, slower vibration that has more of a “Deep Pressure” effect on the body.  This deeper frequency of vibration easily penetrates into the core of one’s body for increased effectiveness and a prolonged calming effect.

There is a popular saying; “Leading a horse to water will NOT always cause it to drink.”  At Sensation Products, our items are mindfully created to be both visually pleasing and physically approachable for all children between the ages of 3 and 103 years old.
