Shadow Drawing is a do it yourself activity for children with learning disabilities to learn about shadow concepts of the sun. The parent or teacher does this with them outside.

Technical Specifications:

Step One: Gather materials.

  • Pen.
  • Items to draw.
  • Paper (larger than the items to draw).

Step Two: Outside, on a sunny day, place the items to draw directly in front of the pieces so that a shadow of them shows up on the paper.

Step Three: Have the child use the pen to trace the item's shadow, compare the item and the item's shadow and discuss. This demonstrates how shadows are made.
