TTPen Stem Binder

The TTPen Stem Binder is a description probe for tactile graphics, designed for people with low vision to help them access images. A user taps the stylus point on any object on a map or diagram to hear layered information about that object or image. The pen can also be used to play a 3D board game, and run other applications. The pen’s on-board computer can run interactive programs to allow users to engage with periodic tables, transit maps with embedded schedules, museum audio guides including tactile exhibit maps, children’s picture book with animal noises, and many others. The Talking Tactile Pen is a collaborative project of Touch Graphics, Inc. and Smith-Kettlewell Eye Research Center, under funding from NIDRR and NSF.
