The Potty-Check System is a wandering patient system designed to prevent individuals with Alzheimer's Disease, cognitive disabilities, or balance disabilities from leaving a toilet without assistance. The system includes a portable Chair-Check II (see also separate entry for Char-Check) control unit and a special adhesive-backed disposable SENSORMAT sensor. This system is intended for use with a single individual and the sensor mounts beneath the seat ring. The system sets itself automatically when weight is detected on the SENSORMAT and provides an immediate alarm when the individual's weight is removed from the sensor. An immediate alarm is required becaue when weight is removed, the individual is in the posture to stand. Selectable alarm tones enables the alarm to be distinguished from those of other equipment and an alternate tone may be chosen for a prioity alert when the individual being monitored is at high risk. POWER: Uses a standard nine-volt alkaline battery or an optional rechargeable nickel-metal hydride battery. The optional battery includes a battery charger which permits up to 1,000 battery charges. The control unit continuously monitors battery condition while the unit is set for use and provides an audible low battery alert.
