What's Happening? Veterans Day Parade and other things to do in Fayetteville this weekend

Nov. 4—There are plenty of fun events happening in the Fayetteville area this weekend, from fall festivals to the annual Fayetteville Veterans Day Parade.

On Friday and Saturday, Gilbert Theater will host Fayettevaudeville featuring the band Reckless Abandon. The event will start at 8 p.m. at the Gilbert Theater, located at 116 Green St. Tickets cost $15 for adults, $13 for seniors, military and first responders and $10 at the group rate of 10 or more. Seating is limited, there will be social distancing between parties and masks are required. Tickets can be purchased on the theater's website.

Straight No Chaser will perform at the Crown Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. The acapella group will be in Fayetteville as part of the "Back in the High Life" tour. Twelve years ago, the group became popular for their rendition of "The 12 Days of Christmas." Tickets range from $39.50 to $64.50 and can be purchased on the Crown Complex's website.

This year's Veterans Day parade will be at 10 a.m. Saturday downtown. The parade will follow the theme of "patriotism, special focus — Honoring Armed Forces Medical Personnel." The parade starts on Hay Street by the Airborne & Special Operations Museum and ends at Cool Spring and Person streets.

The Fayetteville Woodpeckers will hold their second annual Fall Fest from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Segra Stadium. The event will follow the Veterans Day parade. Admission to the event is free. It will include arts and crafts, food and drinks and hayrides. There will also be an exclusive Woodpeckers baseball ticket package available for purchase only at the Fall Fest. The Gallberry Corn Maze will hold its Fall Festival from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday The event will include pig races, hayrides, barrel train rides, double barrel tube slides, corn hole, pumpkins, farm animals, corn dogs, nachos, funnel cakes and fried Oreos. Farm admission is $12 for ages 3 to 65, and $11 for military and seniors. For more information, visit the website.

PowerUp NC will host a DIY Block Party from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Smith Recreation Center, located at 1520 Slater Ave. PowerUp NC is a statewide team that is working to build "a movement for a stronger economy, healthier environment, and a more inclusive democracy." The event will include DIY giveaways, interactive home improvement workshops, home weatherization items, free food, door prizes and live music.
