Las Cruces farmers market moved to Sunday this week to accommodate Veterans Day parade

Las Cruces Sun-News - 11/4/2021

LAS CRUCES - The Farmers and Crafts Market of Las Cruces will be moved to Sunday this week to accommodate for a parade.

The weekly market was rescheduled to allow the 26th Veterans Day Parade full access to Main Street on Saturday, Nov. 6. The market will still be held downtown this weekend, but from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 7.

Karin Bradshaw, vice-chair and manager of the market, said between 120 to 140 vendors are normally set up in Downtown Las Cruces on Saturday. Bradshaw said a range of food trucks, produce and crafts vendors will be set up for the special Sunday market, but it will be a smaller gathering.

She said the market's board decided to take the city up on its offer to reschedule rather than cancel this weekend's event altogether.

"We do have vendors, this is how they make their living," Bradshaw said. "The vendors at least had the ability to sell if they wished it."

The market date and times will return to normal the following week, Nov. 13.

Meanwhile, the plan for Saturday is for the parade to begin at 11 a.m. at the corner of Main Street and Lohman Avenue. Floats will travel north on Main through the roundabout and then back south on Water Street to the original staging area.

Main Street as well as streets that feed into the parade route — such as Water Street and Las Cruces Avenue — will be closed starting at 6 a.m. Saturday.
