California state parks offering free admission to veterans and military members on Memorial Day

San Jose Mercury News - 5/28/2023

California state parks are waiving their admission fees for veterans and members of the military on Monday, May 29 – a celebration of Memorial Day in 130 parks throughout the state.

“State Parks invites these brave people and their families to enjoy the beauty, peace, and rich history of their public lands,” said California State Parks Director Armando Quintero in a statement. “Thank you for sacrificing so much for your nation, for your families, and for our freedom.”

Free admission will be offered to both active duty and reserve military personnel, as long as they provide a valid military ID and proof of discharge (other than dishonorable or bad conduct).

The full list of participating parks is available at the California Department of Parks and Recreation website.
